Maximizing the Potential of Signals

Yesterday, our BOLD Minds embarked on a mission across Graz to uncover key signals of innovation. Each of the ten groups identified a few innovations they believe will shape the future.

Now, they will utilize our Future Wheel Canvas to explore the potential impacts of each innovation.

Here’s how it works: Each group places their chosen innovation at the center of the canvas and considers its first and second-order effects across the STEEP dimensions.

What are the STEEP dimensions, you may ask? STEEP stands for Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, and Political factors, which are crucial when evaluating any solution.

Take the concept of the “15-minute city,” for instance. This urban planning idea aims to ensure all essential services and amenities are within a 15-minute walk or bike ride.

The first-order effect is increased physical activity, as residents will walk or bike more frequently. The second-order effect, in turn, is improved overall health.

We eagerly await the insights our BOLD Minds will uncover regarding these effects!
