Official Welcome and Shiny Moments, Part 2
The first part of the work session at Schloss Esterházy has concluded, and participants are now gathering in the main hall for the official welcome by Martin Horvath, Vice President of the Burgenland Economic Chamber.
Martin Horvath shares his enthusiasm for the BOLD Community to stop in Burgenland to share ideas and inputs to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Now, we once again turn the spotlight on three exceptional minds within the already-exceptional BOLD Community.
Dina Zielinski, Head of Computational Biology at WhiteLab Genomics, begins by emphasizing the importance of clear communication and mutual understanding among peers to effectively tackle today’s challenges. She shares insights from AI-enabled drug discovery and gene therapy advancements, stressing the need for cross-field collaboration to ensure the accessibility and affordability of life-saving medications.
Next is Kamalnayan Tibrewal, Founder and CEO of Biokraft Foods, who addresses the issue of feeding a global population projected to reach 10 billion by 2050. He outlines current challenges such as food scarcity, climate change, and food waste, and proposes innovative solutions including cultivated meat, vertical farming, and precision agriculture using IoT and AI.
The final spotlight of the afternoon shines on Matthias Neumayer, CEO and Co-Founder of Oscar Stories. He delivers a compelling discussion on the biases and affordability issues in AI development. Using numerous examples, Neumayer argues that biases are inherent in all AI systems due to unknown variables and societal contexts. He advocates for open-source AI to foster a future grounded in collaboration and ethical standards.
What a day it has been so far, and it’s far from over. Now, BOLD Minds and Burgenland’s entrepreneurial community will return to their groups to refine their findings.
