This morning, we took the time to allow several BOLD Minds to dive deep into their areas of expertise, giving room for inspiring discussions and live presentations of different tools and approaches.

 

Here’s a summary of what we learned!

 

Session #1 with Ilja Willems on “The Future of Species”

 

Ilja Willems, director and documentary filmmaker at Bureau NY Production, specializes in character-driven documentaries that explore social, political, and cultural issues. 

 

In this session, Ilja shared insights from her documentary project “The Beagle, on the Future of Species,” which retraces Charles Darwin’s voyage to investigate global biodiversity. She highlighted the critical state of global biodiversity and the urgent need for conservation, offering an inspiring blend of scientific discovery and cinematic storytelling.

 

Session #2 with Filip Malenak on “Emergency Systems in Europe and Beyond”

 

Filip Malenak, CEO of Medical Information Technologies, s.r.o., develops advanced emergency call and crisis management technologies. 

 

Filip discussed the integration of digital patient IDs with emergency apps and the challenges posed by differing medical record systems across countries. He emphasized the potential for centralized regulation to standardize patient data sharing and the company’s goal of creating a single integrated emergency app for Europe, which could significantly improve response times and patient care.

 

Session #3 with Jasper Udink ten Cate on “How to Become a Futuretarian”

 

Jasper Udink ten Cate, an artist and founder of Creative Chef Studio, uses food, art, and music to create collective experiences. 

 

Jasper introduced his philosophy of food design, emphasizing the power of storytelling in shaping perceptions. He shared innovative projects like a cheese platter shaped like New York and a museum of tastes that teaches visitors about food biodiversity. 

 

Session #4 with Sergiu Ardelean on “Bringing Art to Life with Artifice”

 

Sergiu Ardelean, CEO and Co-Founder of Artivive, specializes in augmented reality (AR) technology that bridges classical and digital art. 

 

Sergiu discussed how Artivive allows artists to add interactive digital layers to traditional artworks, creating immersive experiences. He shared examples of collaborations with prestigious museums and galleries, showcasing the transformative power of AR in enhancing the educational and emotional impact of art.

 

Session #5 with Ramses Alcaide on “Neural: What Happens to Your Brain During Problem Solving”

 

Ramses Alcaide, CEO of Neurable, explained the significance of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and their potential in tracking and translating brain activity. 

 

Ramses highlighted the challenges presented by neurodegenerative diseases and the potential of BCIs in addressing these issues. He showcased a breakthrough in EEG technology that uses high-end headphones to capture brain activity, making EEG more accessible and practical for everyday use.

 

Session #6 with Markus Mooslechner on “Surprisingly Simple Techniques for Generating Solutions and Insights for Any Challenge”

 

Markus Mooslechner, Director and Executive Producer at Terra Mater Factual Studios, integrates cutting-edge technologies and innovative storytelling methods in his work. 

 

Markus shared techniques for generating solutions and insights, emphasizing the importance of innovative thinking and collaboration. His session provided valuable strategies for tackling complex challenges and fostering creativity in various fields.
