Pitch #6 - BINDER-HOUSE: Bridging the Digital Divide
At BOLD UnConference 2024, the Digitalization team introduced “BINDER-HOUSE”, a project designed to bridge the digital literacy gap across demographics and regions. This initiative aims to enhance technical skills and digital empathy through a community-centric approach.
With notable digital literacy disparities, such as 29.3% of US adults aged 55-65 being digitally illiterate and only 2.4% of Chad’s population having basic digital skills, BINDER-HOUSE plans to create community hubs worldwide. These hubs will be spaces for mentorship, skill-sharing, and community engagement, connecting entrepreneurs, seniors, and youth.
Launching (hypothetically) in Vienna this October, BINDER-HOUSE will offer early digital skill training for children and continuous learning for seniors. It will implement a digital ID system to match skills with learning opportunities and develop a no-code, open-source platform for project development.
This initiative calls for global support, emphasizing the importance of government investment in digital literacy as essential for public health and societal well-being.
